OUR STORY

The Mosling Rec Center was a gift to the Island from John and Jane Mosling. The Rec opened in 1988, providing a place for Island residents and visitors to improve health, maintain wellness, promote healing and serves as a social center for residents and visitors. The Rec features a 60' x 32' indoor pool, whirlpool, locker rooms, full equipped fitness center and multi-purpose community room. The Washington Island Foundation, Inc. is a
501(c)(3) non-profit corporation administering an endowment to support the maintenance of the Rec.

The Rec provides facilities and equipment for fitness classes, personal training, work-outs, swimming, swimming lessons for Island youngsters, physical therapy space and meeting space for Island organizations. The Rec also sponsors family and youth events such as Friday Teen Night, Summer Island Rec Run, and many other events.

Since opening in 1988, The Rec has been a valuable resource to Washington Island. Through financial support received from the Washington Island Foundation endowment, the Rec is able to offer high quality facilities and programs to our community at an affordable cost. Annual membership dues are as much as 65 to 75 percent less than other health and fitness centers.

All donations made to the Washington Island Foundation, Inc. or the Rec Center are tax deductible. Donations for either the W.I. Foundation or Rec Center can made by check and mailed to P.O. Box 68, Washington Island, WI  54246, or you can donate online using a credit card.  Thank you!
